About
Hello and welcome to my site!
My name is Dan Mullen, I am 35 years old and I live in Sunderland, in the North East of England. I have a beautiful daughter called Katie who is 8 years old and attends Bernard Gilpin Primary School in Houghton-le-Spring.
I graduated from the University of Durham in 1998 with a degree in Computer Science before joining British Airways as an IBM mainframe assembler programmer. I worked in the Departure Control Systems (DCS) team for two years then moved into the more modern eCommerce arena. After a brief spell in Dallas, Texas, I started work in the eProcurement team customising Ariba Buyer v7. This mainly involved working with Java, JavaScript and XML.
After three years at BA, I left to join local new media and web development company Baryll Blue. Most of the work involved using PHP and MySQL to develop dynamic web applications, although I also worked with Java, XML, Perl, etc.
In May 2005 I went to work in London on a 6 month contract for Amadeus Services Limited, an I.T. service provider to the airline industry. This once again involved working with mainframe assembler, as well as C and C++.
I now work for a large vehicle hire company – Northgate plc – as an Analyst Programmer. My role is mainly within the Internet arena, with responsibilty for all of the group’s websites and our Intranet. My work mainly involves PHP, MySQL, .NET and MS SQL Server. I also configure security and produce reports in our new system based on Microsoft Dynamics AX and have recently completed the Development I-IV training courses. I am based in Darlington, County Durham, which is about 50 minutes away by car.
I enjoy watching most sports and playing football, snooker, tennis, badminton, squash and golf. I am an avid supporter of Sunderland AFC, my local football (soccer) team. I spend a lot of my spare time developing websites and web applications, as well as dabbling with writing the odd computer game. I also enjoy playing Nintendo Wii, PS3 and PSP games, (flavour of the month being “Fifa 2009″ on the PS3).
So there you go! Now that you know a little more about me, I hope you enjoy browsing my site. Feel free to post your own comments to my blog and, if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
Enjoy the site ![]()
